The holy grail of kitesurfing
Northeast Brazil is known as somewhat of a Kite Heaven in the Kite community, blessed with a long season of sunshine and reliable trade winds.. Kiteboarders from around the world journey here in their quest for strong winds, butter flats, shallow lagoons, rolling waves, chop, warm water, epic downwinders, amazing nature, and, of course, friendly people. Brazil suits all skill and experience levels; most kiters may already have heard of popular spots such as Cumbuco, Taiba, Paracuru, Preá, Jericoacoara and Barra Grande. During the season from July to January, daily wind is almost guaranteed at the right spots! In the region around Fortaleza, it's usually 15 to 30 knots - further north up to Jericoacoara it picks up (up to 40 knots!) when it reaches its inflection point. From Jeri to Atins the wind softens down a little. The peak season in Brazil runs from October to November and attracts some of the world’s elite riders!
