Getting to Atins is a bit of an adventure in itself. We are quite a bit off the beaten track, so to avoid any unnecessary layovers and reduce the risk of unplanned hold-ups in Barreirinhas or elsewhere, we recommend taking some time and attention on planning your transfer to Atins. The nearest domestic airport to the village of Atins is São Luís (SLZ). The main international airports are Fortaleza (FRO), Belem (BEL) or Natal (NAT). The small regional airport of Parnaíba (PHB) is equidistance to São Luís. Jijoca de Jericoacoara (JJD) would be another option, with infrequent connections to São Paulo and some other Brasilian cities.
From either location, you will journey on by private car / taxi or bus and eventually take a boat for the last miles to Atins.
